I ask that all members please remember the condition of the golf course prior to Hurricane Ike. The golf course was in excellent condition and with some warm weather and time; you will have the same conditions this year. Your maintenance crew is working very hard to get the golf course back into great shape.

Several projects are ongoing through out the golf course. The pond on #4 tees has been filled in with soil, irrigation installed and Paspalum grass planted. This area will be an additional white and gold tee. The corner of #5 tees has been cleaned up and additional irrigation installed. Oleanders have been planted on the left side of the tee box.

The security fence along 12 Mile Road and Grambo has begun. Wagner Fencing is installing a 3 rail fence to provide security and improve the appearance of Galveston Country Club. Gates will be installed at all entrances to the club in the upcoming weeks. These gates will be closed daily in the evening to reduce joy riders on the golf course and reduce vandalism through out the golf course. Galveston Country Club is closed on Mondays and all gates will remain closed.

Upcoming projects are trimming of all palms trees on golf course, planting of Paspalum seed to hole #15, renovation of flower beds on #10 tee and #15 tee.

I would like to thank the greens committee and board of directors for the approval to trim all the palm trees through out the golf course. This will provide the members of GCC a fresh look as they play golf and allow sunlight to many thin areas due to shading from the over growth of palm fronds. We are striving to improve the golf course daily and many more improvements are coming in the near future. Our goal is make GCC the best conditioned golf course possible. I look forward to seeing you on the golf course.
