Visually intimidating, lots of water, and tight with postage stamp greens. These are the words; I use to describe

Galveston Country Club to my friends and family members that have not had the pleasure of playing here.

First impressions are not always accurate. Galveston Country Club looks easy at first glance but you better hold on tight, because it will jump up and bite you.

What a great golf course to play and in my case, to work with.

With all that said, the golf course is improving daily. Several areas of concern are still months away from completion but they are on, our priority list and we will address them as time allows. Drainage areas on hole #14 & #15, bare areas throughout the golf course, all lake edges will be cleaned, cart paths edged, and bare area right of #5 fairway will be over seeded with rye grass.

The maintenance staff deserves a lot of credit for the rapid improvements to the course. In 4 short months, I feel we have improved the playing conditions of the course dramatically. Consistency is the key to our program.

The more we mow the golf course, the healthier the grass becomes.

Mother Nature has also blessed us with timely rain falls, and low winds. As the winter months approach, we will be applying nutrients and pre emergent herbicides to the turf grass to help it recover from cooler temperatures and reduce weed seed   germination.
