Rules of usage have been established to assure the maximum enjoyment of the Country Club by all of its members. Membership in the Club involves a cheerful and willing obligation to observe its rules. It is the duty of the membership of the Club to know its by-laws and rules and actively cooperate with the officers and directors in the enforcement thereof.
Members desiring to submit suggestions or criticisms of any department of the Club’s activities are particularly urged to address the Chairman, or any member of the committee concerned or the Club Manager, rather than the Club employees. The committee so addressed is not obligated to investigate any criticism unless made in writing and signed by the submitting members.
House Rules
1. No person shall be admitted to the Clubhouse except members and their families, guests and visitors invited under these rules and persons calling upon members or having business with the Club.
2. A member's family, within the meaning of these rules, shall include his wife, minor children, not otherwise eligible for membership, unmarried daughters and the widowed mother of a member. Any member's unmarried son, over twenty-one years of age who is attending school regularly and is dependent on his parents, or who is serving in the military forces of the United States, shall be entitled to all privileges accorded to the minors of members.
3. Good order and decorum must be observed in all parts of the Clubhouse and premises. Any member, guest or visitor conducting him, or herself, in any unbecoming manner shall be reported to the Board of Directors for such action as may be deemed appropriate.
The Club Manager is vested with authority to enforce all House Rules. In the absence of the Manager, his designated assistant shall have said authority. A member or guest, who fails to comply with an order or request of the Manager, or his designated assistant in the Manager's absence, shall be required to leave, and a report thereof shall be made by the Manager to the House Committee for appropriate action.
4. Members shall be required to pay green fees, pool fees, and other such charges as may be applicable incurred by their guests. All such fees and charges will be entered against the account of the member. Members are responsible for charges made by members of their families.
5. Dogs or other pets are not allowed in the Clubhouse or in the area of the Swimming Pool.
6. The Club will be closed every Monday except when Monday falls on a holiday or a special event is scheduled, then the Club will remain open on Monday and be closed on the following day unless otherwise announced. Club hours shall be posted, and are subject to seasonal change.
7. Private parties are solicited from members during regular Club hours. Arrangements for parties will be made with the Club Manager under the following restricitons.
a. Outside Club hours, the Club Manager will require a guarantee of an economical number of persons or dollar amount sufficient to to reimburse the Club.
b. Reservations will be charged for unless reasonable notice of change is given; such notice to be determined by the Manager depending upon the amount of preparation required.
8. Members and guests are not permitted to bring any beverage or food into the Clubhouse or on the Club property.
9. Dress shall be at the option of the member or guest except at special functions when dress is designated, and with the following limitations:
a. Swimming attire shall not be worn in any part of the Clubhouse.
10. The Club has locker accomodations for members or guests, and it is expected that every person making use of the Locker Room will rent a locker. All property left in the Locker Room, outside of the lockers, will be removed by the attendant in charge. You will need to contact Management to recover these items. Golf clubs and bags may not be stored in the lockers.
11. Articles left on Club premises or with attendants by member's or guest's are left at the sole risk, of the member or guest. Neither the Club nor the attendant shall be held responsible for loss or theft. "Articles" above include personal items left with Locker Room attendants and Golf equipment left with bag room attendants.
If a hurricane is eminent, make arrangements with the Pro Shop to remove your equipment from the Golf Bag Storage Room.
12. The Locker Room and House attendants shall not be required to attend to any duties other than those to which they are regularly assigned by the Club Manager.
13. Parents are responsible for small children in the Clubhouse. Children 14 and under must be accompanied at all times by an adult.
14.* No children under 14 are allowed in the Bar Area or Locker Rooms without parent/guardian. Bar Area is restricted to adults only after 5:00 p.m. (Approved by the Board, 5-19-2011)
15. A gratuity of eighteen percent (18%) shall be added to each separate billing for food and beverage. Gratuities shall be distributed to food service employees by the Club. Tipping as approved for Locker Room, Check Room, Parking and Bag Room attendants not covered by gratuities.
16. Members must sign charge checks for all food, beverage services, etc. However, cash may be paid for food, beverage, or other services at the Club.
17. Fishing and Crabbing on Galveston Country Club property are permitted only from the bulkhead (boat dock) for members and their guest. The boat dock is located south of the parking area near the swimming pool.
