REVIEW THE TOURNAMENT MENU:  Please find a complete tournament menu in this package for all your hospitality needs.  Our Food & Beverage Director will be able to guide you through the menu and assist you with any special requests you may have.

 

CONFIRM NUMBERS:  The total number of golfers and dinner guests should be provided one week prior to the event.  A tee-sheet with names and foursomes must be finalized at least two days prior to the event.  Galveston Country Club will be responsible for all tee-times, shot-gun starts, and /or starting hole assignments.  The accuracy of your guest list is critical to the success of your event and allows Galveston Country Club the best possible service to your guests. 

 

CLUB RENTALS:  Galveston Country Club offers golf equipment.  Please advise the Pro Shop staff at least 14 days before your event as to how many rental sets you will require and who is responsible for payment.  We carry both right and left hand set on a first come, first serve basis.  Reserve early! Rental fee is $35.00 per set.  

 

EVENT STAFF:  Our experienced and friendly staff at Galveston Country Club is here to make your private, corporate or charity event a tremendous success.  Our staff will assist you in all aspects of event planning and will oversee your event from start to finish. 

 

GOLF SERVICES STAFF:  A guest’s first impression will be that of our golf services staff greeting them upon arrival.  These staff members will take the tournament guest’s golf clubs out of their vehicle and place them onto their assigned golf cart. The bag-drop staff is available to answer any questions about the facility and direct guests as required. 

 

HOLE AND SPONSORSHIP SIGNAGE:  No tournament would be complete without a longest-drive or closest-to-the-pin competitions.  Galveston Country Club will supply markers for all your challenge hole competitions.  Our staff will also set-up and retrieve any on-course signage. 

Recognizing that sponsorship has become an integral component of the corporate or charity golf tournament, our staff will ensure that all signage is set out correctly. 

 

 

DEPOSIT AND CONTRACT:  Once a date has been decided upon, a $750.00 deposits to secure the tournament date and starting time.  The deposit is non-refundable with 30 days of the reserved event.  In the event of course closure due to inclement weather, an alternate date will be offered.  If such a date is not deemed appropriate, arrangements for a refund will be offered. 

 

CONFIRMATION OF NUMBERS: The number of tournament players and the number of tournament meals must be confirmed no later than 7 days in advance.  Shotgun tournaments must confirm numbers 7 days in advance.  The tournament bill will be based on the total booked.

 

FORMAT AND CONTESTS:  The Tournament Director for your event will discuss with you the format of play as well as on-course contests or special events that will greatly enhance your day. 

 

SPONSORSHIP: A trend in many tournaments these days is hole sponsorship.  This can add to your event and also help with costs.  We will do our very best to accommodate your sponsorsduring your event. Liquor, food and beverage sponsors are only allowed if the product is purchased through Galveston Country Club.  Please contact our Food & Beverage Director for assistance.

TIPS ON RUNNING AN EFFICIENT GOLF TOURNAMENT

 

Whether this is your first time as a tournament coordinator or you are a veteran, please take a moment to review this list of important procedures, timelines, and suggestions. 

 

SECURE YOUR DATE:  Contact the PGA Professional to confirm availability of the date you wish to host your event.  A contract will be sent along with a request for deposit.  Please return your deposit and contract as quickly as possible-your deposit is your guarantee. 

 

BOOKING TEE-TIMES:  Upon selecting and securing a date, make sure to book enough tee-times for your guests.  It is always easier to cancel times rather that try to add on at a later date. 

 

GOLF CARTS:  Galveston Country Club’s fleet of golf carts is electric.  Each power cart also features a roof-mounted plaque indicating the name of the golf tournament, starting time, starting hole, and guests name. All tournaments are staged in front of the Pro Shop that is complete with a sound system to keep golfers informed on the details of their event. 

 

REGISTRATION AREA:  The registration area is located in side the main clubhouse.  This allows the tournament guests easy access upon arrival. 

 

COMPLIMENTARY PRACTICE FACILITIES:  All tournament guests are invited to use the complimentary practice facilities.  These facilities are among the finest in Galveston and include a putting green, a short game area complete with sand bunkers and a grass teeing area, the practice facility.

 

GOLF CLINICS:  The PGA Professionals at Galveston Country Club can provide a pre-tournament golf clinic.  Full-swing, short game, and specialty shots are some of the aspects of the game that may be covered.  As clinic formats can vary from one-on-one to a group approach, a member of our teaching staff will design a clinic based on your requirements and budget.

 

 SCORING:  Galveston Country Club takes all the pressure off the tournament organizers.  Once the last card is turned into the Pro Shop, the results are recorded by our staff. The results can be printed immediately. This scoring program handles all forms of competition.

 

EVENT DAY:  Once the tournament day has arrived, the only job you should be involved in is registration.  We will take care of all aspects of the event from cart staging to scoring.

 

RECEPTION FACILITIES:  Galveston Country Club has the facility to host your banquet after your tournament with seating available for up to 150 attendees with a spectacular view of Lake Como and hole # 10 tee box.  There is a generous menu to choose from, from plated meals to buffets.  Please contact our Food & Beverage Director for assistance. 

Note:  Selection of our banquet room is subject to availability and is dependent on the date and time of day you book your function.
