Men’s Golf Association

Welcome to the Galveston Country Club.  All members of the club are encouraged to join the Men’s Golf Association (MGA).  Our MGA is comprised of both Stock Members and Social Members.  The membership fee is $30.00 per year.  The objective of the MGA is to promote the enjoyment of the game of golf and to create camaraderie among the members of the club.  All golfers at every skill level are encouraged to join the MGA. This is a great way to meet your fellow club members!

The MGA sponsors a number of events during each calendar year.  These events are designed to create friendly competition among the members and provide various formats to challenge your skills while making the event an enjoyable time.  You must be a member of the MGA to play in any MGA event.  The following is a list of the events sponsored by the MGA:

 

1. War by the Shore Matches. 
2. Match Play Championship
3. Memorial Day Tournament
4. Club Championship
5. Couples Club Championship
6. MGA League Play—A two man team format, this league plays on the second Saturday of each month with tee times beginning at 8:00 AM.  Teams play a different opponent each month in a best-ball match play team format.  A championship team is determined each year with the team champions receiving prizes and recognition on a plaque at the club.
7. Annual MGA/LGA Grudge Match—The MGA plays a one-day event each year with the LGA ladies as our opponents.  This event is great fun and it provides the male members of the club the opportunity to demonstrate our superior golf capabilities, sometimes we even win.
8. Saturday Play—Every Saturday throughout the year the MGA holds individual competition for members wishing to play in this weekly event.  A different competitive format is chosen each week.  The format for the week is posted in the Pro Shop.  All MGA members are welcome.  You can play in the event as a single or with any group of other golfers you chose.  To participate, you must be an MGA member.  You can tee off anytime between 8:00 and 11:00 AM on Saturday mornings.  Simply advise the Pro Shop that you want to participate in that days event.  An entry fee of $10.00 is charged for each entrant.  Prizes redeemable at the Pro Shop are awarded to the weekly winners. MGA League Players can participate in the Saturday competition as well, with their round counting for both events.

 

HOW DO I JOIN?

Simply contact one of the MGA committee members listed below or advise Desa Polivka of your intent to join the MGA.  They will assist you with your enrollment and take care of all the details.  We do keep an up to date roster on the full MGA membership
